Young girls tour local wastewater treatment plant
In celebration of Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, CH2M HILL employees in Savannah, Georgia, teamed with the City's Water and Sewer Bureau and Environmental Affairs Department to lead 100 elementary and middle school girls on a tour of the recently completed Crossroads Wastewater Treatment Plant. The tour highlighted the role of female engineers on this local project. While the girls were touring the plant, other CH2M HILL engineers stayed back at school with the boys and held a car design-build competition. Employees also participated in a math and science night at a local elementary school where they taught students about buoyancy by having them build a boat out of tin foil, straws, and saran wrap. Each boat needed to be able to hold the weight of 25 pennies for at least 10 seconds.
