CH2M HILL is pleased to announce that Marek Mierzejewski has joined the firm as a Sector Leader with responsibility for the firm’s Water for Mining business. Mierzejewski will support growth for this market across the globe and will assist the firm’s mining teams in the Environmental Services and Energy & Chemical business groups.

 

“Our change from a geographic-led to a market-led business development structure requires the strongest market sector leaders we can identify for our strategic markets,” says Industrial Water & Process Group President Steve Gelman. “Marek has more than 30 years of experience in industrial water and wastewater treatment technologies, with a strong focus on their application to the mining sector, and he will get enhanced traction for us in the industry.”

 

Water issues are increasingly important in the Mining sector, due both to competition for sources and to a more demanding regulatory environment. As the Water for Mining lead, Mierzejewski will be responsible for developing long-term opportunities within the mining market sector. He will serve as the compass for setting the direction for this part of the mining sector as well as develop the sector’s strategic plan for CH2M HILL.

 

Mierzejewski brings over 30 years of water industry experience to CH2M HILL, having previously worked for Degremont and Siemens.  Schooled in England, he entered the water treatment field in 1978, and came to the United States ten years later, where he gained further experience in industrial water and wastewater treatment, with a growing emphasis on the mining sector.

 

“I have a broad background in most water treatment technologies, as applied in several industries. This should allow us to select the most appropriate technology for any given mining problem, borrowing from what has been done in other sectors,” says Mierzejewski. “I am pleased to join CH2M HILL and to focus on water for mining.”
