Robert G. Card
Bob Card has 36 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry and has held key executive, management, operations, and technical roles in the fields of nuclear decommissioning, energy, sport, environmental cleanup, water/wastewater, and facilities.
Mr. Card currently serves as President of CH2M HILL’s Energy, Water & Facilities Division, which includes the global business groups for Water, Energy and Chemicals, Power, and Sustainability.
Mr. Card previously served as the President of CH2M HILL’s Government, Environment and Nuclear Division (6,300 employees and $1.7 Billion annual turnover) and President of CH2M HILL International ($1 Billion annual turnover across 6 continents).
Mr. Card recently returned to the US from London where he served as the Chief Operating Officer of the CLM consortium, a CH2M HILL joint venture company performing the Delivery Partner role for the UK Olympic Delivery Authority. CLM manages the delivery of the £9 billion programme to design and build the venues and infrastructure for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, including post-Games reconfiguration for urban regeneration.
Mr. Card also served as President & CEO of Kaiser-Hill, the CH2M HILL joint venture company responsible for leading the $7 billion decommissioning and cleanup of the Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site (Colorado, USA) for the US Department of Energy. This programme was the largest environmental cleanup of its kind and was accomplished 60 years ahead of schedule, $30 billion under budget, and with a greater than 10-fold decrease in safety events.
From 2001 to 2004, Mr. Card was the Undersecretary of Energy for the US Department of Energy (DOE). In this capacity, he oversaw the Department’s Energy, Environmental Science, and Safety Groups with a $14 billion annual budget and 65,000 government and contractor employees. While at DOE, he served in a lead role at 14 major ministerial-level international summits and worked on US climate policy implementation and global energy issues.
Mr. Card has held a variety of engineering, project management, and operations management roles since he joined CH2M HILL in 1974.
