For Fourth Year, CH2M HILL Named to Ethisphere’s “World’s Most Ethical Companies”

WME 2012
CH2M HILL, a global full-service consulting, design, construction, and operations firm, has been recognized for the fourth consecutive year by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the 2012 World’s Most Ethical Companies. The sixth annual list from leading international think-tank Ethisphere Institute highlights organizations that show leadership in promoting ethical business standards. Recognized companies go beyond making statements about doing business “ethically” and translate those words into action, introducing innovative ideas to benefit the public and compelling their competitors to follow suit.

“Being named one of the 2012 World’s Most Ethical Companies is a great honor for CH2M HILL and a testament to the collective commitment of our employees to our core values of respect and delivery excellence,” says Lee McIntire, CH2M HILL Chairman and CEO.

As CH2M HILL continues to monitor and strengthen its programs, the company is proud of the progress made in 2011 in these areas:

  • Creating an ethics ambassador program in each of our office locations
  • Establishing Supplier Ethics and Business Conduct Principles
  • Encouraging a commitment to sustainability as it pertains to company operations and the services provided to clients
  • Fostering Community investment and employee volunteerism
Chief Legal Officer Margaret McLean says, “Successful ethics programs require more than a robust policy or code of conduct, they require leadership, ongoing communications and encouraging ethics as part of our daily dialogue.”

“Each year the competition for World’s Most Ethical Companies intensifies as the number of nominations submitted for consideration grows,” said Alex Brigham, Executive Director of Ethisphere. “This year’s winners know that a strong ethics program is a key component to a successful business model, and they continue to scrutinize their ethical standards to keep up with an ever-changing regulatory environment.”

Through in-depth research and a multi-step analysis, Ethisphere reviewed nominations from companies in more than 100 countries and 36 industries. The methodology for the World’s Most Ethical Companies includes reviewing codes of ethics, litigation and regulatory infraction histories; evaluating the investment in innovation and sustainable business practices; looking at activities designed to improve corporate citizenship; and studying nominations from senior executives, industry peers, suppliers and customers.
