CH2M HILL Chicago Takes On the JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge
CH2M HILL Chicago employees showed their spirit in the Chicago JP Morgan Chase Corporate Challenge. The Corporate Challenge, “Teaming Up For a Greener Tomorrow,” has the end-goal of being the “greenest” road race in the world while educating its participants on the value of best environmental practices. Approximately 50 CH2M HILL employees came together to celebrate health, community service, teamwork, friendship, and of course being green, at the Corporate Challenge event. A record 27 of the Chicago-area employees completed the 3.5 mile course, joining a total of 23,374 participants from 635 organizations – including many local clients.
An integral part of CH2M HILL’s company culture is exploring new ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle both at home and in the office. Therefore, this year the Corporate Challenge shirts were designed with materials of 100 percent recycled polyester shirts and plastic waste, and printed with environmentally-friendly non-phthalate inks. The event was kicked off with a t-shirt and shoe recycling drive in the Chicago offices. The collected shirts were sent to the recycled shirt company,
Atayne, and transformed into running shirts “made from trash.”
As part of the Corporate Challenge, the company shirt design was submitted to the Corporate Challenge T-Shirt Design Competition. After a vote on Facebook, the Chicago team’s t-shirt was selected as the greenest design. By winning the design competition the team was given the opportunity to donate $1,000 from the JP Morgan Chase Foundation, to the charity of their choice. The Chicago offices elected to split the donation equally between
Water For People and
Engineers Without Borders, two organizations supported by CH2M HILL locally and at an enterprise level. The Chicago team looks forward to participating in the competition in the future.
