Calgary, March 14, 2012 – CH2M HILL, a global full-service consulting, design, construction, and operations firm was recently named as one of the Best Employers for New Canadians  as noted by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.

 

“This achievement recognizes our commitment to diversity, support of initiatives such as the Toronto MicroSkills Employment Resource Centre, and volunteer efforts to aid New Canadians in entering the Canadian workplace,” said Tom Searle, president of CH2M HILL Canada. “We are honoured to be included in this list.”

 

Employers are evaluated in terms of whether: (1) they offer programs specifically designed to assist recent immigrants; (2) they have taken steps to reduce employment barriers by recognizing foreign credentials; (3) they assist new employees to have these credentials recognized in Canada; (4) they offer on-boarding programs to help recent immigrants understand the Canadian workplace; and (5) they provide training for managers and employees to create better awareness of cross-cultural issues and foster a welcoming and productive work environment.

 

The firm first won this award in 2011 and earlier this year, CH2M HILL Canada was recognized as one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers and Top Employers for Canadians Over 40.

 

The Best Employer for New Canadians competition is sponsored by the Maytree Foundation and the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation.
