CH2M HILL (www.ch2mhill.com), a global full-service consulting, design, construction and operations firm, announces its participation in the inaugural International Water Summit, hosted by Masdar and co-located with the World Future Energy Summit at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre 15-17 January. The Summit will gather the leading minds from the global water community in policy, business and science to accelerate the development of sustainable water solutions for arid regions and bring to life the nexus between two of mankind’s most vital resources: water and energy. CH2M HILL is a global leader in developing and delivering sustainable solutions in the water and energy space, having been named Water Company of the Year at the 2012 Global Water Awards, and will have a number of employees contributing their expertise to the vital conversations at hand.

With population doubling over the next 20 years and placing stronger demands on water in energy and food production as well as general potable usages, current water stress will impact energy prices, food prices, etc., especially in arid regions. CH2M HILL is continuing to lead and expand the market and thought leadership globally to excel in solutions for the inter-related issues of food, water and energy security.

CH2M HILL Chairman and CEO Lee McIntire will join a panel of international experts for the discussion, “Water and Energy as a Catalyst to Regional Development and Sustainable Growth,” on 16 January from 12:00-12:45. This panel discussion will highlight the impact of consistent supply on national and industrial growth, and development of sustainable communities. Critical factors to success will be evaluated to highlight the importance of a reliable quality supply of water and energy to population centers, industry and tourism, especially for water scarce regions and in times of high demand, drought, shortage or supply interruption. Supply and demand mitigation strategies including recycling re-use and resource diversification will be presented as viable approaches to future proof water needs and enable sustainable development.

CH2M HILL Water Business Group Vice President Nancy Barnes will be participating in the panel discussion, “Analytical Outlook of Network Efficiency,” on 16 January from 12:45-13:15. This panel discussion aims to identify ways to achieve optimization of water networks, with a focus on arid regions. Network efficiency for water supply, distribution and sewerage will be defined in terms of frequency of maintenance, leakage control, water usage policy and inspection. Case study examples from the GCC, Jordan and Yemen will provide insight into the maintenance, replacement, network growth, and investment challenges posed by operating networks in growing economies with scarce water resources.

CH2M HILL Vice President Linda Macpherson will share her global experience as a reuse principal technologist, senior water policy planner and public involvement specialist during two IWS Project Stream sessions about water reuse and public acceptance on 16 January, the first from 11:00-11:15 and the second from 2:30-2:45. The sessions, hosted by Global Water Intelligence, will share the latest best-practice research and project examples.

CH2M HILL India Managing Director Ajay Pradhan will be moderating the panel discussion, “Customized Water Solutions for Rural Communities” on 17 January from 9:30-10:30.  This panel discussion will outline the water supply, usage and demand challenges present in rural communities. Consideration of the natural eco-system, domestic requirements, agriculture and industrial demand and water conservation challenges will be considered. This panel will provide insight into cutting-edge technologies and approaches that will enhance the effectiveness and improve water security for rural communities.

Macpherson will also be providing insight as a speaker in the workshop, “Taking a Stakeholder Perspective of Water Reduction, Recycling and Reuse in Order to Improve Stakeholder Engagement and Reduce Water Scarcity,” on 17 January from 16:15-16:45. This dynamic and interactive workshop session will provide insight into the industry perspective of the consumer point of view of the three R’s. The panel of industry experts will provide insight into how to engage consumers and to help change perspectives towards water conservation to enable increased acceptance of alternative water resources for potable consumption and how policy and institutional cooperation may have a positive impact on optimizing water use.

CH2M HILL employees will also be available to discuss solutions to our world’s greatest engineering challenges at Booth #3145.
